
8 new tool types added in 2008

The ToolBank's massive inventory of tools for use by Atlanta's charitable organizations just got even larger! In February, the ToolBank added eight new types of tools to its tool inventory for use in volunteer projects throughout metro Atlanta. The ToolBank typically adds one or two new tool types at the beginning of each year. Eight tools were added this year, thank to support from The Home Depot Foundation. The new tools are:

Auger (includes 8 inch bit) Gas-powered unit is perfect for drilling holes in the earth for fence posts, deck posts, signs and mailboxes. |

Air compressor (with hose) A heavy duty unit that is easily transportable and efficiently runs multiple tools. |

|
Hammer drill Good for heavy duty drilling in masonry and concrete. Often used to drill holes for inserts to hang items on brick, block or mortar walls. |

|
Hand truck A handy tool for any project where heavy or unwieldy objects need to be moved. Useful for moving boxes and other bulky items. |

|
Jackhammer: Electric This unit breaks up concrete, asphalt and heavy clay. Operates on standard 110 current. Useful in replacing broken concrete walkways. |

|
Pruning saw: folding Cuts small to medium branches faster than a conventional saw. Blade folds into handle so unit can be carried in your pocket. |

|
Tiller Garden tillers are gasoline-powered and allow you to cultivate and weed. Folding handles make for easy storage. |

|
Weedeater: electric includes safety goggles and back-up spool. Perfect for yard trimming and edging, whacking weeds, grass and underbrush. |
